Over the past month and a half, I have been spending a couple hours each week here and there working on our first ever mobile app...completely built and coded from the ground up by yours truly!
It has been an awesome experience so far, and one that I will continue to build upon to bring an ever-broadening set of services for us to offer you!
The app is currently being developed on Android, but because we are writing the code for it using the React-Native framework (Yay JavaScript!!!), we'll be able to also build the app for iOS devices as well in the near future! It gets frustrating bouncing between apps to do one thing here, and check another there...am I right?!
We do a lot of work with internet of things devices, and a part of that is constantly checking sensor values on our web dashboards...to check the temperature and humidity in rooms of our homes, etc. A wonderful service for creating these visual dashboards is hosted by Initial State. With such an awesome web platform, it seemed only natural to find a way to integrate that into a mobile application...which up to this point does not exist.
The wonderful people at Initial State have taken a liking and interest in our development of such an app, and indicated they would like to know how things are going down the line...which is fantastic!
In the next few weeks we plan to release an extremely early beta-test of sorts of the app on the Google Play store, in an effort to gauge the level of interest by current Initial State users, and those that are interested in an affordable yet powerful IoT dashboard service.
Stay tuned for more updates, and if you're curious about any of the other really cool things we could possibly do for you or your small business...fill out our contact form :)
It includes a webview to enable using Adafruit IO dashboard controls from within the app itself -> No more switching between multiple applications!
